Dr. Vincent
J. Nerviano owns a home
locally
with his wife Joan (PA-C), and mother Ann (and cat
- adult
daughter Kim, and son Jerry elsewhere). He is fully
licensed
for independent practice as a psychologist in Pennsylvania. His
independent
general clinical practice is for outpatient counseling, psychotherapy,
assessment, employee assistance and general consultation.
Dr. Nerviano received undergraduate degrees from the City University of New York and did some graduate work at Temple University. He completed his graduate degrees at the University of Kentucky, in a clinical training program approved by the American Psychological Association, June 1975. He is presently a fellow with the Pennsylvania Psychological Association. Dr. Nerviano was previously on the management team and staff psychologist for wraparound services at the Cornell Abraxas Harrisburg Behavioral Healthcare Clinic. There he was involved with clinical reassessments of children and youth, clinical case staffings, management conferences, and consultative supervision of primary therapists. He has also worked with Konrad Associates, of Keystone Children and Family Services, Inc. Dr. Nerviano had also practiced in affiliation with Pennsylvania Counseling Services: Harrisburg, in general outpatient psychotherapy, counseling, and EAP serving children, adolescents, as well adults. While still involved in the North East PA area, Dr. Nerviano served as a consulting clinical psychologist for the Children's Service Center of Wyoming Valley. While there he was also a consultant with Apogee, Inc. doing psychological assessments in over a dozen nursing homes in several counties and a psychotherapist in two large nursing homes. Prior to this Dr. Nerviano was a staff clinical psychologist at Veteran Affairs Medical Centers in Wilkes-Barre (PA), Waco (Texas), Chillicothe (Ohio). At the VAMC Ft Lyon, Colorado he was the Program Director, Alcohol Treatment Unit (inpatient). Dr. Nerviano previously had been the Chief Psychologist at a Community MH / MR/ Alcoholism Center. He also served as Director, Diagnostic and Evaluation Service for a large residential mental retardation center in Somerset KY. Dr. Nerviano was the Founding Director for a Community Mental Health and Alcoholism Center in Alaska. For several years he was a staff clinical psychologist for an inpatient admissions unit in the large Eastern State Hospital in Lexington, KY. Dr. Nerviano started his post doctoral career as a clinical research psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry, College of Medicine, University of Kentucky. Dr. Nerviano has been a vocational rehabilitation as well as social security disability consultant. He has taught undergraduate courses in introduction to psychology, abnormal psychology and research methods. He has numerous research and scholarly publications in a number of professional psychology, mental health, and addictions journals. Dr. Nerviano has served as U.S.
Army Officer rising to the rank of Major (68S -
Psychologist) in several USAR - IMA assignments nationwide over
several previous years. He was also a Disaster Mental Health
Specialist with
the American Red Cross and was deployed to floods in Missouri (1993),
Greater
Houston Texas Area (1994), and Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania
(1996).
